The Nuts and Bolts

Limmud Fest 2010 begins midday of Thursday 26 August and finishes at lunchtime on Monday 30 August.

This year the venue is Windlesham House School, Washington, Pulborough, West Sussex RH20 4AY. Full directions and details will be sent to you before the event.

Let’s get to know each other!

Come on Thursday to get your bearings, meet presenters, get comfortable with the site and help out with set-up. Or do your own thing – help organise a bonfire, strum and drum, and make new friends.

Getting there (also see Fest By Any Means)

Coaches will leave from Golders Green station in London at the following times:
  Thursday 26th: 09:30 / 14:30 / 19:30
   Friday 27th: 09:30
and returning on Monday 30th, leaving Windlesham at 14:00. To book a coach, please phone the office.

The nearest railway stations to Windlesham school are Worthing and Pulborough. Both are around an hour and twenty minutes from London Victoria. Local buses run from Worthing to Windlesham House School, roughly every half hour on weekdays and every hour on Sundays and Bank Holidays, although the last buses leave Worthing before 19:00. See http://www.travelinesoutheast.org.uk for detailed timetables.

Under canvas

We’re set up for camping – it’s a festival after all!
You can choose from three campsites:

Families - if you’re bringing the kids!
Quiet - for a peaceful, relaxing sleep.
Noisy - if you don’t mind a noisier, traditional festival campsite.

Each site has access to showers and toilets, some indoors, some portable.

Unsure about camping?

It’s great fun, and the best way to enjoy the festival atmosphere. Don’t worry, there’ll be people around to help. If you’re thinking of buying a tent, the Camping and Caravanning Club has a buying guide.

Alternatively, if you don’t fancy shlepping a tent to Fest, you can hire one from us. We’ll even pitch it for you for only £40 more, with our “easy camping” option.

Fancy something a bit more luxurious? You might want to think about a yurt, a tipi or even a Gypsy caravan. Here are a few companies we’ve found:

Yurtopia – http://www.yurtopia.co.uk

Simply Yurts – http://www.simplyyurts.co.uk

Red Tipi – http://www.redtipi.co.uk

The Bow Top Company – http://www.thebowtopco.co.uk/

Note that the inclusion of companies in this list does not imply any endorsement by Limmud, and you will need to make hire and delivery arrangements yourself. This list is only a selection, and similar services may be offered by other companies.

If life under canvas isn’t for you, there are a limited number of multiple-occupancy indoor bedrooms with shared bathroom facilities – but they’re booking up fast!

Eating

We provide supervised kosher catered food and, in our tented kitchen, will make every endeavour to cater for any special dietary requirements. We use local, free-range and organic produce where we can.

Reducing, recycling, reusing

We’re going to make the event as environmentally friendly and as ethical as possible:

• We’ve asked our caterer to use organic, sustainable, locally sourced, free-range, fair-trade and seasonal ingredients where possible.
• We’ll keep packaging and disposables to a minimum.
• We’ll place recycling points in convenient spots around the site.

Share your ideas on how we can do even better.

Getting around

If you have any concerns about access please get in touch and we can advise you. There are a few bedrooms with disabled access and they will be reserved for participants with mobility problems.
