Limmudfest08
The tents are packed up and we're catching up on sleep! We are keen not to miss a trick to make next year's Fest even better than this one - so please take ten minutes to fill in our online survey.
Who knows - you may even win our randomly selected free place on Fest09!
Those who were there will have enjoyed the Limmudfest challa - the recipe is here. Adapt it and enjoy - add some honey for some new year sweetness.
Places are now closed for this year's Limmudfest, a truly innovative and unique opportunity to take you one step further on your Jewish journey against the stunning backdrop of the Peak District over the August Bank Holiday.
Limmudfest08 ran from Friday 22nd to Monday 25th August. A particular focus of Fest was the environment and tikkun olam, with participants taking part in Tikkun Trek, a pre-Fest adventure which takes place on Thursday 21st August - with cycling, hiking and sessions on spiritual, environmental and social action topics. For the first time this year, there was a Family Tikkun Trek as well, suitable for children of all ages.
We offer programmes and facilities for individuals, groups and families with special programmes for kids, a crèche and babysitting all provided. Most participants camp, although some bedrooms are available too.
Whatever your age, approach to Judaism or areas of interest, we aim to offer an experience you will learn from and enjoy. The Limmudfest programme offers courses and sessions throughout the day and into the evening, with entertainment, including music, comedy, film and theatre. You can also take advantage of the extensive grounds - whether that means engaging in a game of rounders, finding a quiet area to discuss Torah or having a conversation with the cows in the next field.
This year we anticipate about 550 participants from newborns to great-grandparents, across the spectrum of age, interests, culture and religious observance (like all Limmud events, Limmudfest is observant of Shabbat and Kashrut in all public places).
