Limmud in the Woods
22 to 26 August 2013
Exploring Jewish life … Radical Simplicity … Creating the Magical
Explore – Learn - Dance –Discover – Eat – Love – Laugh – Challenge – Connect – Grow – Feel – Happen – Be
We are really excited to launch a new and different Limmud experience for 2013. Limmud in the Woods is an innovative, under-canvas festival packed with music, learning, art, eco-consciousness and outdoor adventures!
Keeping our numbers lower this year, Limmud in the Woods will be an intimate festival with a host of secrets to discover. Limmud in the Woods is an exploration … an exploration of nature, of community, of spontaneity, of art, music and learning.
Limmud in the Woods is a rediscovery of Limmud’s core values – everyone will be involved in creating a self-help community – from teaching and learning, to cooking and eating. It’s also a low cost event to make it accessible to anyone.
We have exclusive use of a beautiful campsite near Banbury in Oxfordshire for the August bank holiday weekend - 22-26 August.
Based on an ethos of collective community involvement everyone who comes will be an essential part of making this weekend happen, whether it’s helping in the preparation of tasty dinners, time on the helpdesk, assisting in the crèche/nursery, teaching torah, setting up tents, presenting a session, juggling in the woods, making music round the campfire, or leading treks.
What will you do?
When you book your place you’ll be asked to give your preferences of where you would like to volunteer. We are asking everyone who comes to give just 4 hours of their time over the weekend to be a part of making this exciting event happen (of course if you like being involved you can always do more!...)
Full details and applications will go live at the beginning of June. Initially, invitations to apply will be targeted at people who have already expressed an interest in Limmud in the Woods so, if you think you’d like to join us, do email us on email@example.com.
News on Fest 2014
Limmud Fest hasn’t disappeared. It’s taking a rest and giving over the summer space to this lovely, smaller, simpler Limmud in the Woods. We hope that Fest will be back next year with new ideas and better than ever. If you’d like to get involved in planning Fest 2014 then email us.
