Thames Valley Day Limmud is on Sunday 10th October 2010. Registration opens at 9am with programmes running from 10am to 6.30pm.
It offers participants from all walks of life, all backgrounds, all lifestyles, and all ages a unique opportunity to connect with all things Jewish. This is a chance to learn, to be inspired and meet and study with Jews from diverse backgrounds in a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the Thames Valley.
A stimulating day-long learning event in Limmud's unique style. You will have the opportunity during the day to experience Chavruta – learning Talmud like a student Rabbi (no previous knowledge necessary) – and also enjoy participating in a wide range of text-based, cultural, artistic and philosophical sessions run by experienced presenters – in fact something to please everyone.
Speakers include:
- Joel Schalit, author of Israel vs. Utopia
- International recording artist Tally Koren to perform
- Rita Eker, one of the founders of the 35's Women's Campaign for Soviet Jewry
- Glenda Abramson, professor and author of the Encyclopedia of Modern Jewish Culture and Hebrew Writing of the First World War
- Ros Wright, former head of the Serious Fraud Office and current chair of the Fraud Advisory Panel Vice-Chair of the Jewish Association for Business Ethics
- Nathan Abrams, professor and writer whose most recent books are Jews & Sex and The New Jew in Film

- An organised separate children's & young persons' programme run by experienced leaders.

The venue is easily accessed from junction 12 of the M4 and is within walking distance of Theale Station. PLEASE NOTE THAT NATIONAL RAIL ADVISE US THAT THERE WILL BE A BUS REPLACEMENT SERVICE FROM MAIDENHEAD TO READING AND FROM READING TO THEALE THAT MORNING SO PLEASE ALLOW EXTRA TIME IF COMING BY TRAIN. Reading Buses Vitality Route 1, from Reading Station to Newbury, which runs hourly on Sundays stops outside Theale Green Community School.
There is ample car parking in the grounds. The site is accessible by wheelchair. Registration will start at 9:00am, with sessions beginning at 10:00am and running until 6:30pm. Places are limited, so book early and get the best prices!
