To this day, many Jews sit shiv'ah when a close blood relative, or a spouse, dies. The Talmud has a lot to say about the rules of mourning. In the post-Talmudic period more mourning customs developed. We will discuss the main Jewish mourning rites of shiv'ah, sheloshim, kaddish, year long restrictions, and so on. Solomon Gaon - Hakhamim of the Spanish & Portuguese Jews' Congregation

In 1949 Rabbi Solomon Gaon was appointed Hakham of the Spanish & Portuguese Jews' Congregation of England. He served the community during the modern period - from the Birth of the State of Israel until the mid-1970s. The Silent Exodus
