Two views prevail: the hostile view that Marx was an antisemite, linked Judaism to global financial power and secret conspiracy, and equated human emancipation with the emancipation of society from Judaism; the friendly view that antisemitism was irrelevant to Marx's writings and his negative typifications of Judaism were largely justified! Against both orthodoxies, I shall argue Marx was a staunch critic of the left-wing antisemitism prevalent in his times.

How can we strike the balance between capitulation and conflict?
