Email no 8 - 17 August - Mellow to mallow

The email's a little late this week - technical troubles this morning.

IT'S SUMMER, NO IT'S AUTUMN
I hope everyone's making the most of the summer to relax, put your feet up, and enjoy the Pimms (if unsure, this IS alcoholic) under the umbrellas.

COUNT YOURSELF IN
I know I say this from time to time, but if you feel you're not as involved as you'd like to be, let me know. We've plenty of things to do, and lots of people - it's just that the matchmaking we did in January may not have been perfect which means that some people may feel left out. Don't be shy and be in touch.

ON TRACK - WHAT'S IN YOUR SHUL?
So far, over 70 applications in the last few days, which is a good start (and a recent record). Let's keep the word of mouth message rolling around the community (and to those who may feel a little outside the community) and encourage people to book as soon as they can. And let's book ourselves http://www.limmud.org/conference/form.

We've got spare brochures, posters etc to give out and Jerrold Bennett and Wayne Sussman (our marketing leads) are writing to shuls, Jewish organisations etc to ask them to promote Conference. But we need to reach well beyond shul regulars so we'll also be doing a run of cafes etc around the place, but we're bound to miss opportunities (especially outside London - and also overseas). If you are able to help, or can submit an article in magazines or online then let me know and I'll pass it on.

BEATING THE WEATHER - LIMMUDFEST www.limmud.org/fest
Fest is coming up over the bank holiday weekend and it's not going to rain*. They have a wonderful line-up, and a load of the Conference team will be there. We also realise that going to many Limmud events can hit the pocket so we're going to have special Conference offers in place at Fest (only only only available there). Want to save or help out? They are still looking for scholars - so if you're interested and want to save £100 please email office@limmud.org.

*terms and conditions apply

HAARETZ - HAVE YOUR SAY
I've mentioned our arrangement to share two presentes with Haaretz (www.haaretz.com). I'm pleased that top blogger and columnist Bradley Burston, and sharp leader writer Daniel Ben Simon will be joining us at Conference. Is this good for us? Let me know what you think.

COME FOR A WALK
Latest in the series of volunteer events arranged by the Volunteer Team is a guided walking tour of the East End this Sunday. Email Daniel Musikant (danw777[at]zoom.co.uk) if you want a last minute place. I'll see you bright and early on Sunday.

JOKE FROM TC
Last night I dreamt I ate a ten pound marshmallow. When I woke up the pillow was gone.

Shabbat shalom
