Want to join the Limmud Conference 2008 team? Read on to let us know what you can help us with!
Limmud has become so established, and its reputation so far-reaching, that it may surprise you to learn that it is almost entirely run by volunteers.
From 18 to 80, from one hour during a Limmud event to hours every day of the year, and from Limmud first-timers to twentieth-timers, our volunteers come from all backgrounds to make the atmosphere and attitude of all our events uniquely Limmud.
Why volunteer at Conference?
Want to contribute to perhaps the most influential Jewish event in the world?
Want to meet new people?
Want to learn a new skill or hone an old one in a safe environment?
Want to add working on the team for a large conference to your CV?
Like what you have seen at Conference in the past? Want a way to do more?
... Or do you just want the warm fuzzy feeling you get from knowing you made a genuine difference to someone's Conference?
Whether you have 1 hour or 100 hours to give, Conference needs you! Volunteer at Conference itself, or volunteer to help prepare for it now.
Join the Conference Team - open to people of all ages, backgrounds and approaches! Participants who volunteer either before or at Conference always say they got more out of their experience.
You could take responsibility for a wide range of Conference roles: running the bar team, managing transport arrangements for presenters, putting together a suitable programme for families... There are roles that take only a very small and specific amount of time and roles that are larger and require more time commitment - it's up to you.
The 2008 Volunteer Vacancy Board lists some of the roles that we needed volunteers to fill in our 180-strong team. They required varying time commitments at different points between now and December.
If you think you might be interested in roles like these, please email conf07-volunteers@limmud.org. Don't worry, writing an email doesn't commit you to the role! There are plenty more roles you could do - if you are interested in something else, please email us. The list is not exhaustive, and we will try our hardest to get you involved in a way that appeals to you.
Aged between 18 and 30? You could get a massive £220 off your Conference fee - just for volunteering 4 hours of your time each day at Conference with other 18 to 30 year olds. See our YADs page. .
Anyone who wants to do so can put themselves forward to present a session at Conference. Email the Programming Team via the Limmud Office and they'll get back to you shortly!
Volunteering at Conference is, as it says on the tin, giving your time at Conference to help out with a task that needs to be done-registering participants, helping people find their way round site, calming queues,, moving chairs and helping record sessions for Limmud Journeys. Without the community of Conference Volunteers, Conference would be impossible to run. Look out for the Volunteer Desk at Conference and sign up to join the team.
Want more? Email conf07-volunteers@limmud.org and we'll find you a role.
