  • public transport – regular coach and train services run to the area from around the country
  • share a coach – we’ll hire coaches to run from various points around London and Manchester, subject to demand. Please tick the box on the application form to reserve a place (£20 per person each way); we need to know by 23 November if you want to reserve a place
  • flying – the nearest airport is Birmingham International; East Midlands Airport is 30 minutes travel away, Luton Airport 80 minutes and Heathrow just over an hour and a half
  • driving – a couple of hours from London and Manchester; there’s plenty of parking on campus. If you can offer, or need a lift, please visit the car pool forum
  • there’s limited public transport over the holiday period – so think about your travel arrangements in plenty of time.

I can’t come for the whole week

  • you can come for a short-stay or even for a day – but you will need to make your application online or by contacting the Limmud office
  • we have some accommodation available if you’re not coming for the full week
  • sorry – but we can’t accommodate families for less than the week. We know from many families that people benefit hugely from being part of Young Limmud Conference from start to finish and we’d urge you to make sure they don’t miss out on this experience

Young Adult Development Scheme (YAD)

Pay attention! £220 in your pocket! Young Adult Development Scheme!

  • Between 18 and 30 or a full time student?
  • Want a great way to meet people and make friends?
  • Interested in learning new skills, developing your talents?
  • Want to help make Conference 2008 happen?
  • Fancy a £220 subsidy?

If your answer is Yes to any of the above - the Young Adult Development Scheme (YAD) is what you are looking for.

In return for up to four and a half hours active involvement each day, we’ll subsidise your Conference fees to the tune of £220.

YADs undertake many and varied roles and we’re looking for a wide range of expertise, skills and interests. Often a YAD will take on more than one role and will get to see several different aspects of Conference.

If you’re interested in volunteering full time, you’ll be welcome helping run Young Limmud Conference - and you'll have your evenings free to socialise. Places are fully subsidised.

To apply, first fill-in the standard online conference application form. When you’ve done that, follow the link in the form to the separate YADs application form - you’ll have to complete that as well.

A limited number of YAD places will be available for Shabbat. Details to come soon!

I’m 16. Can I come to Conference alone?

If you’re 16 or 17 and you want to come without a parent or guardian please call the Limmud office for details.

Be there at the start

If you want to catch Conference from the moment it starts on Sunday morning, it’s a great idea to arrive on Saturday evening. For a small additional payment you can check in after Shabbat on Saturday 27. We’ll be announcing the check-in times in the December mailing and on the website.

Shabbat Limmud

Shabbat Limmud – 26 and 27 December – has a restricted number of places, so please apply early. The fee – extra to the fee for Conference – includes accommodation, a full programme and all meals from Friday lunchtime. As usual, there will be an eruv (Shabbat boundary). Please do note that there won’t be any childcare over Shabbat.

Sleep well

The best way to be part of the Conference community is to stay on site. There’s so much going on from early in the morning to late at night that it’s the most practical option too – especially as the nearest hotel is some three miles away. There’s lots of accommodation choice:

  • single ensuite student rooms
  • lower priced single rooms with shared facilities
  • lower priced twin rooms with shared facilities (please book early as these are extremely limited in number)
  • some hotel-style double rooms with bathrooms and televisions; sorry, but these are not available to families and we may need to restrict availability to participants staying for the whole week
  • family accommodation – twin rooms next to each other, sharing facilities with one or two other families.
We can provide cots for children under two – there’s a small hire charge; please bring your own cot linen.

Hungry?

We provide tasty, nutritious, fully supervised kosher food as part of your Conference fee. The menu will feature, dairy, fish, vegan and vegetarian food. Food over Shabbat – including a meat meal – is included in the Shabbat Limmud fee. If you have particular dietary requirements, please use the application form to tell us.

Getting around Conference

  • accessibility at The University of Warwick is good – it’s a compact site, quick and easy to get around, with accommodation and session rooms close to one another and a maximum walking distance of 10 minutes
  • we’ll be providing transport assistance for those who need it
  • Download a map of the site

I might need financial assistance

Limmud’s policy is to help people come to Conference if they are not in a position to pay the fees in full. If you’re in this position, please print the financial assistance form, complete it and send it to the address on the form.

Accessibility and special needs

  • all seminar rooms have access for people with disabilities and many also have a hearing loop
  • we can offer adapted single ensuite rooms for those with a disability or specific mobility needs. Make sure you tell us as much as you can about your needs on your application form and we will do everything we can to meet them

Cancellation fees and insurance

If you have to cancel, please let the Limmud office know in writing.

  • If you cancel before 23 November we will charge you a £25 per person administration fee, rising to £50 per person for the period up to 12 December.
  • If you cancel after 12 December, we will be unable to refund you as we will by then be committed to expenditure.
  • Refunded fees will be returned in January 2009. We recommend that you take out insurance for personal loss, medical expenses and cancellation.
