So what should I expect...

…my Conference day to look like?

Everyone’s day at Conference is different. You’ll create your own schedule, balancing lectures, films, workshops and debates as you please, with 'time out' to meet and chat.

  • The variety on offer at Conference is astounding. At any time there might be up to two dozen sessions to choose from, themed to help you select what appeals to our interests. Check out this example day of sessions at last year’s Conference.
  • Throughout the day, you can relax in Café Limmud, the bookshop, the Art Gallery, or the exhibition area and shuk (marketplace)
  • In the evenings - have a drink at the bar, enjoy a performance or film, late night Israeli dancing, or attend yet more enticing sessions
  • Sessions typically run from before you get up until well past your bedtime. They don't stop for breaks either - although we suggest you do!
  • A special programme runs over the pre-Conference Shabbat to help you gear up for the busy week ahead. Click here for more information.

…if it's my first time at Conference?

You'll be in good company. Over 800 participants will be enjoying their first Limmud event. We'll do our very best to make you feel comfortable.

  • We will send you a Pre-Conference Guide to help ease you into Conference without worry
  • We run orientation sessions at the beginning of Conference to guide you through the Conference experience
  • When you are at Conference feel free to visit the Helpdesk for information and tips
  • This year we're introducing a walking tour of the campus (in different languages) and social events will give you an opportunity to mingle and meet new people

…if I'd like to exhibit

We have an exhibition area, new art gallery and lively shuk (market place) which in the past has featured jewellery, Judaica, paintings, ceramics and fabrics. Please email conf07-recreation@limmud.org if you are interested in exhibiting.

if I come to Conference with my kids?

Conference is packed with safe and stimulating activity for children of all ages - from very small up to around eighteen. It gives parents the chance to concentrate on their own Limmud journey.

  • Young children are well looked after and entertained in the crèche and nursery, and we also offer babysitting in the evening.
  • Young Limmud Conference  - for older children - is a stimulating and challenging educational experience that matches the quality of the main programme. Later on the new Night Zone offers a chance to chill out.
  • There are family sessions every day bringing together parents and children for fun activities, music and art
  • If you're early risers, you'll enjoy the Breakfast Club, a choice of activities including art, drama and family chavruta.

If you're thinking about coming to Conference with your family for the first time, do please call the Limmud Office - we'll put you in touch with a more experienced Limmud family so you can talk it through.
