Help make Conference happen
Be a part of the most exciting event in the Jewish calendar!
Everything that makes Conference the incredible event it is – from inviting presenters, to writing the handbook, to looking after participants – is carried out by a fantastic team of volunteers.
There are dozens of tasks – large and small – for volunteers to do either in the months leading up to Conference or on Conference itself. Whether you can spare an hour or two during Conference, or would like to get involved in something more substantial during the year, your help will be invaluable and very much welcomed.
Volunteering for Limmud is so much more about carrying out a task; it’s the chance to be part of a vibrant and inspirational team. There will be lots of opportunities during the year to meet the rest of the team and contribute your ideas. Whether you’ve volunteered for Limmud before or this is your first time, we promise to make being on the Conference 2011 Team a brilliant experience for you.
Following our successful launch event in February, we have already recruited lots of volunteers but there are still many roles available including:
Pre-Conference Roles:
Learning Fair Manager
Invite organisations to promote their learning programmes at Conference (now till conference)
Tell Me Text Co-ordinator
Plan the popular Tell Me Text sessions (now till October)
Pre-Conference and On-Conference Roles:
Supporting participants with learning disabilities or special needs
We’re looking for volunteers who are interested in working with people with learning disabilities or special needs.
Tell Me Text Facilitator
Run the Tell Me Text sessions
Tuck Shop managers
We are looking for people who know what Limmudniks like to eat! We want some fresh new ideas for the tuckshop this year. Someone with great organisational skills and who is happy to put in a few hours before Conference begins and will help organise/supervise the tuckshop staff shifts.
On Conference Only Roles:
Bar entertainment
Open-mic night? Booze and Blues? Pub Quiz? Are you the person who can spice up the life of the bar? Four nights of the bar at conference… limitless possibilities of fun and entertainment.
Bloggers
We want to bring together a blogging collective to update Limmud’s web pages with live feedback and reviews of presenters and sessions as and when they happen, and help our 2,500 participants navigate the hundreds of opportunities available to them.
If you want to get involved with our media team - email conf11-communications@limmud.org
Film makers & Video Editors
Conference has literally thousands of interesting people, stories and things happening, and we want to broadcast them to the world.
We need people who are willing to film, and to work with footage supplied by our Young Limmud reporters – who’ll be taking vox pops of conference goers – live recordings from live performances, and one on one interviews with some of our presenters, we need help weaving them all together into 15 min shorts.
The shorts will be broadcast live at conference during session changeovers, and will be used in the future to show just how great conference is.
If you want to get involved with our media team - email conf11-communications@limmud.org
Greeters
Be the first face participants see when they arrive at conference.
Medical Doctor
To support the Conference paramedic (on a rota basis).
Photographers
Are you an amateur or professional photographer, with your own kit, who is willing to help us capture photos from every session at Conference, as well as key performances, social activity and the buzz of Conference life?
You’ll join a rota of photographers each day, and work to cover key points in the programme. The best of the images will be projected live across the conference site, and be posted live online.

Podcast recorders
We are looking for a few people to help with recording some Conference sessions for podcasting. There is not much work involved, you just have to be coming to Conference, interested in going to sessions and able to work very straightforward recording equipment (we can show you how to do it). If you have a good quality audio recorder that you can bring with you that would be a bonus.
Porters/Stewards
Help participants, who need it, with their luggage when they arrive at conference.
Registration Desk Helper
Welcome participants to conference and take them through the registration process
Shuk staff
Be a part of the hustle and bustle of the Limmud Shuk (Market). Some help will be required in setting up and taking down the stalls as well as being a go-to person for vendors on the day.
Webcasting/tech support
We are also looking for some people with a bit more technical aptitude to help with videoing some sessions for live internet broadcast, and some people to clean up audio recordings at or very soon after the event for posting on the internet. Again, not much expertise is required and basic training can be provided if you are interested.
Something missing?
If you think there is something missing from Limmud Conference, then get in touch with us to make it happen. We are always open to new ideas and welcome eager volunteers willing to take on a new challenge.
If you would like to volunteer, please get in touch with the Volunteers Team at conf11-volunteers[at]limmud.org. Please let us know:
- What sort of role you are interested in;
- If you would prefer to volunteer during the year or on Conference itself;
- How much time you can give in the run-up to conference;
- If you have any special skills that you think the team could benefit from.
We look forward to hearing from you.
